§ 18-49. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this Article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this Section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Unfit dwelling means any dwelling designated as unfit for habitation, including, but not limited to, any house, apartment, roominghouse or garage, that, in the judgment of the authority designated by the Village Board, has any of the following defects or conditions, creating a hazard to the health, safety and welfare of the occupants or the public:

    (1)

    The dwelling is damaged, decayed, dilapidated, unsanitary, unsafe or vermin, rodent or insect infested.

    (2)

    The dwelling lacks provision for basic illumination, ventilation, or sanitation facilities.

    (3)

    The general condition of the dwelling is unsanitary, unsafe, or unhealthy.
