§ 2-142. Part-time police officers.

  • (a)

    Definition of part-time police officer. The term "part-time police officer" means a police officer whose position requires no more than 1,560 hours of work per year.

    (b)

    Authority to hire. The Chief of Police shall have the authority to hire part-time police officers without regard to the eligibility list maintained for police officer applicants by the Village's Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, and without regard to the procedures used by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners in hiring police officers.

    (c)

    Training requirements. All part-time police officers hired by the Village shall successfully complete any and all training mandated by the State Law Enforcement Training Standards Board.
